Ne-Yo’s artist gets in the holiday spirit — kinda — while singing her blues in Just Another Holiday.

“Since you’ve been gone away/ It will never be the same/ Without you here, it’s just another holiday,” sings a brokenhearted RaVaughn over the Phatboiz production.

Next year, she will release her debut album, which is expected to feature appearances from Wale, Fabolous, Marsha Ambrosius, John Legend, and Miguel.

Jake&Papa’s Experience Writing For the Legendary Heavy D

Jake&Papa’s Experience Writing For the Legendary Heavy D

Today, sadly, marks the day that the legendary Heavy D passed away. But we’re living vicariously through Jake&Papa’s memories that they made in the short time working with him.

See below for Jake&Papa’s experience writing for Heavy D, via JakeAndPapa.com

In September of 2011 (couple months before his tragic demise), our producer homie, Augie Ray, reached out to us saying that Heavy D was looking for writers. So, we went in and worked with him for like 3-days in a row at his house.

First, we just talked about music for hours. It started off like a test lol. He played certain songs like, “Yall don’t know nothing about this,” and when we started singing all of the songs he was like, “who are yall’s parents?!” Lol. Then it was just all vibes from there. Listening to classics, him telling us stories and giving us game.

We ended up writing the hook and bridge for Love in a Bottle off his Love Opus album.

Heavy D loved music like we love music… All types. He could actually sing too, and showcased that on that album we wrote on.

Listen to Love in a Bottle below. What do you think? Comment with your thoughts.

If you’ve heard Clyde Carson’s Slow Down record, then you’ve probably heard Sage the Gemini’s hit, Gas Pedal.

Notice the similarity in the two songs? He did that on purpose, Sage told Sway. While in studio on the Shade 45 morning show, he elaborates on how he flipped Clyde’s slapper to make his own.

Sage’s new hit, Red Nose, has 7 million views on YouTube — but why the name Red Nose? It’s like a Red Nose pitbull, says Sage. “Imagine if that was a booty.” He goes in depth about creating the beat and concept of the record with the Sway in the Morning crew.

He also introduces the Bay area’s new dance sensation, “yiking.” Watch this Universal-signed rapper elaborate below — and get familiar with his hit, Red Nose.

Plus check out 4 other Bay Area artists you should know HERE.
